Explore your writing in a supportive group of women using Centered Writing Practice™, a unique process of freewriting to prompts, sharing and listening, and supportive responding developed by Peggy Tabor Millin.
Whether a beginning or experienced writer, you will leave with a reliable tool for a writing practice that will inspire your writing and enrich your life. Your body’s yearning for respite and soul’s desire for speaking your truth will find nurturance and communion as you explore this particularly feminine approach to the writing process.
To gain maximum benefit from this retreat, Peggy suggests you read her award-winning book Women, Writing, and Soul-Making: Creativity and the Sacred Feminine prior to arrival.
What participants have said:
The retreat was just what I needed to get past a big stuck place in my journey as a writer, an experience that was gentle and powerful at the same time. Peggy's Centered Writing Practice is a wonderful tool for all women who write. In a circle of generous, funny, supportive women, I again have embraced my writing and am on my way...
...Peggy T Millin was a facilitator in the true sense of the word. She guided us into a safe space as writers which helped to unleash responses to prompts that were amazing.
Peggy's gentle support and humor create a space of safety, allowing participants to express their truth. She has developed the technique of Centered Writing Practice™ over 25 years of leading spiritual growth and women’s writing classes and retreats. The practice combines body awareness with free writing to prompts. Read more about Peggy Tabor Millin here.
Location
Montreat, North Carolina, is located twenty miles east of downtown Asheville near Black Mountain. Spring is a perfect time to explore this community with its wide variety of native flora and fauna, gently flowing streams, and colorful mountain vistas.
Multiple trails wind through hundreds of acres of wilderness surrounding the town, along creeks, across rustic bridges, and through preserved woodland areas. If you are flying in, please see the Visiting Asheville page.
Our retreat will be held on the first floor of the Katherine & Thomas Belk Center at Left Bank on the shores of Lake Susan. This facility is part of Montreat Conference Center, which along with Montreat College, is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA).
