Peggy Tabor Millin
"I believe that writing nurtures the inner life and transforms the outer world of women writers."
Peggy Tabor Millin
Writer. Mentor. Speaker.
Toward the end of writing her second book that Peggy Tabor Millin realized something was wrong. A slow and painful awareness unfolded: the manuscript she had just completed was not the book she was supposed to write.
So she started over.
What emerged over the months was something special: a tangible manifestation of the very writing practice Peggy developed and honed: circular, feminine, and filled with inner knowing. Women, Writing, and Soul-Making: Creativity and the Sacred Feminine is a book that has emerged to become an exploration of Centered Writing Practice™ itself.
Like the experience authoring her own second book, Centered Writing Practice™ for Peggy is about trust, honesty and process..."learning to let go of what you think writing should be" to create beyond what you think is possible. As a mentor, Peggy takes women on a journey "within and from themselves," gently supporting and validating each voice with a nurturing, grounded sense of possibility. "As long as you write, you're a writer," says Peggy.
Peggy founded ClarityWorks in 1996 and developed Centered Writing Practice™ to explore how writing nurtures inner life and transforms the outer world of the writer. As her writing groups evolved, she observed how writing shaped the lives of the participants, containing the power to heal, educate, and enlighten at deeper and deeper levels. She noted how the power of story grew, not just in the story alone, but in the sharing of it.
Peggy's personal writing provided the ground for inner exploration in the nonfiction and fiction that has become her mode of creative self-expression. The author of training manuals, magazine articles, numerous short stories, and the nonfiction book, Mary's Way, Peggy also has edited for individuals and publishers. Her recent work was included in the anthology, Sisters Singing.
More recently, a quote from Mary's Way gained national attention when noted author and Johns Hopkins professor, Dr. P.M. Forni, used it on The Oprah Winfrey Show. " We never touch people so lightly that we do not leave a trace," has echoed across the Internet with mentions on various blogs, websites, and Oprah Winfrey herself.
